we are a family story
learned from grandpa
Know-How and fun at work –
Why we do what we do is because we are particularly good at it. For three generations, we have known what matters when it comes to corporate fashion, textile labeling and choosing the right garments. In the process, we have repeatedly optimized our manufacturing processes and adapted them to new, modern standards.
Modern standards? In 1951, things still looked different…
Let’s start at the beginning. In 1951, Eduard Klostermann from Heiligenhaus founded the company ekaha. What sounds so complicated and mysterious is a composition of name and place of foundation – Eduard Klostermann Heiligenhaus. Since our grandfather had always been familiar with textiles, in 1951 he became acquainted with an American company that manufactured textile printing machines and was looking for sales representatives in Germany and Europe. A great synergy quickly emerged and the business took off. However, there were no “standards” at the time – so a lot of improvisation was done and an old caravan was quickly converted into Europe’s first mobile textile printing company. Grandpa Ede then went on a European tour with it. Denmark, Norway, France, England, Spain…at that time everything was still possible without having to speak a foreign language…with sign languages.
Small becomes big
With a Borgward through Europe –
In 1960 they went on a big European tour. With a Borgward and the converted trailer Grandpa Ede went as “Dr. Textile” on a grand tour. The small sales representative for American patch systems quickly became an entrepreneur in his own right.
Next generation
In 1988, Heribert Klostermann took over the management of ekaha and, thanks to high quality standards, made the company one of the leading suppliers of textile labeling in Europe. Initially, hotels, restaurants and hospitals were ekaha’s first major customers. The company’s wash-and-boil and dry-clean resistant marking solutions have enabled it to make a good name for itself in these industries in particular.
At some point, the company turned to service companies that wanted to equip their employees with corporate clothing. This is how the first cooperations with large manufacturers of workwear and the like began. In addition to the common and proven transfer labels and printing techniques, embroidery finishes were now increasingly used.
Existing customers for more than 50 years
Ekaha has always been able to compete against larger companies with new innovations in the industry. In the meantime, the customer base includes companies such as VW, the German Armed Forces, Telekom and Airbus. The oldest existing customers have been satisfied with ekaha’s service and quality for more than 50 years.
